Screenium 3 App Reviews

The recording performance of Screenium 3 is astonishing and I haven’t encountered any problem so far. The video editor’s usability could be slightly enhanced but overall Screenium 3 has impressed me. No matter which applications were running, Screenium recorded continuously at a high frame rate without dropping any frames. Since I create video tutorials for a living, the release of Screenium 3 has been terrific news for me. Especially since version 3.1 makes it possible to record iPhone, iPad, AND Apple TV 4! That’s a huge surprise. One importing hint: You have to install a free plugin called SoundFlower if you want to record system audio. That’s just the same as with other recording tools I know.

The latest update solves a TON of problems in the previous version, and the iOS device recording feature is awesome. I use an external audio interface which complicates my audio input situation, and the app hung when doing my first voiceover recording test. The second voiceover worked fine, so perhaps it was just a glitch. All things considered, I’m generally pleased with the software, and expect continued updates for features and stability.

I put this app there with SnagIT which has been in my MUST have tool chest for years. Screenium is the equivalent in power and simplicity. I can’t think of a reason not to buy it - IMO it’s a must have.

I’ve been using this to make videos for my game to send to the press and post on youtube. It’s pretty much the only thing I’ve found reliable enough to use. The only problem is getting audio to record, you have to download an open-source addon called Soundflower. Instructions on Screenium’s site how to do this. It’s not their issue, it’s an OSX issue. This is a HUGE upgrade from 2.x, which I had been using previously.

I love Screenium 3 because it offers a user interface that is distinct from programs and also comes with unique features like translation. I love latest feature that enables you to record your iOS screen.
